Freestyle Martial Arts

Freestyle Martial Arts offers Tiger Tots for ages 3-4, where children sit nicely, raise their hand, take turns, and speak in front of peers with parent participation while doing coordination drills and karate skills. It also offers Cool Cats for ages 5-6, Karate Kids for ages 7-9, and Youth/Teen for ages 10-14, with martial arts instruction that includes kickboxing, grappling, and self defense.

Programs

• Tiger Tots — 3-4 years · Children learn to sit nicely, raise their hand, take turns, and speak in front of peers with parent participation, while developing coordination through drills and karate skills.
• Cool Cats — 5-6 years · Preschool and kindergarten program teaching confidence, focus, and social skills.
• Karate Kids — 7-9 years · Develops confidence, discipline, respect, and self-esteem through martial arts instruction.
• Youth/Teen — 10-14 years · Comprehensive martial arts curriculum developing coordination, strength, and flexibility while learning kickboxing, grappling, and self defense.
• Adult Martial Arts — Martial arts for adults in a positive, safe environment.
• Play It Safe — Children of All Ages · Fun, realistic self defense seminar with role play involving a mock 'Bully and Stranger'; teaches confidence, awareness, and verbal de-escalation.
• Women’s Self Defense — Self-defense techniques, tactics, and strategies.

About the provider

Freestyle Martial Arts was established in 1986 and has served San Diego County for 40 years. Its leadership team includes Sensei Kikuchi, Sensei Jackson, Sensei Anderson, Sensei Hayden, Mr. Mark Miller, Miss Maia Hayden, and Miss Leslie Hernandez. The program states a mission to empower, encourage, and inspire students, and its credentials include 2016, 2017, 2023, and 2025 ISKA World Champion Demonstration Team, the Channel 10 Leadership Award, County of San Diego Self Defense Expert, Dr. Phil Self Defense guest, and the San Diego Foundation USA Freestyle Family College Scholarship.

Programs available for ages 3 & up and all skill levels. Students can try a free class. The dojo offers private lessons and Zoom training.
