About
JING Kids After-School Program and Camps offers Mandarin Chinese and Chinese language, along with Chinese songs, Chinese games, Chinese art, and activities related to Chinese culture and Chinese history. The program also includes Chinese Martial Arts (Wushu), Kung Fu, Taiji, Bagua, XingYi, Kids' Wushu, and its own STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) program. Students can also take part in meditation, Qigong, and Zazen (Zen Buddhist Sitting Meditation).
• Ages: 5–12 years old
• Schedule: Weekday Wushu classes are offered in the afternoons, with additional Saturday morning lessons and Sunday morning Zazen sessions
The JING Institute states that its After-School Program in Scripps Ranch teaches Chinese language and Wushu/Kung Fu every school day and follows three pillars of education: cultural-linguistic, physical, and technological-academic. The program offers dedicated academic time and help for students to finish their schoolwork during the After-School Program and includes its own STEAM program. JING classes follow a driving curriculum, use an authentic Kung Fu/Wushu learning system, do not charge separately for weapons or advanced classes, do not require long-term contracts, and offer an introductory class free of charge.
Weekday Wushu classes are held at 3, 4, and 5pm, Saturday lessons are at 10am, and Zazen is taught every Sunday morning at 8am. The JING Institute is described as a California Heritage School with a large, clean, comfortable facility and nice, thick floor mats.
The JING Institute was the first Chinese Martial Arts school in San Diego certified by the Chinese Wushu Association and the USA Kungfu Wushu Federation. It is described as the only school in San Diego whose Kung Fu/Wushu, Tai Chi, Xingyi, and Bagua are certified by the USA Kungfu Wushu Federation and the Chinese Wushu Association, and as the only China-certified San Diego Kung Fu, Wushu, and Tai Chi school. The leadership team includes Headmaster Siu-Fong Evans, Chief Tai Chi Instructor Lui Guojing Evans (Jing Jing), and Chief Kung Fu/Wushu Instructor Christopher Mendoza.
The JING Institute serves families who need an after-school program or a Saturday morning activity and who want their children to learn useful skills for an increasingly multicultural, interconnected, and technological world. JING performs at the Chinese New Year Fair in Balboa Park, the Chinese New Year Fair in Downtown San Diego, the 41st Annual Ethnic Food Fair at the International Cottages in Balboa Park, and the San Diego County Fair, and trains students for the Asian Games, the Traditional Wushu Tournament, and the World Wushu Championships. The years history information lists © 2002–2007 and © 2002–2025 with the same phone number and updated address details for the JING Institute.
