About
Angel Lopez Tennis Academy Junior Lessons, Clinics & Training Programs offers junior tennis clinics, junior tennis training programs, and half-day junior tennis program options. The program includes spring, summer, and winter training, along with a junior tennis camp experience and opportunities for tennis competition.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
The program’s mission statement is that winning is important, second only to the development of the player, and that tennis is used as a vehicle to also develop successful young people in life in its junior programs. The junior tennis camp experience is described as well organized, professionally managed, and competently supervised. For children 8 years and under, the program uses smaller sized tennis courts, specialized equipment, shorter court dimensions, and modified scoring tailored to age and size, with court dimensions of 36 feet long and 18 feet wide and a net height of 2 feet 9 inches. Within one hour of stepping onto the court, children are actually playing tennis, rallying with one another, and having fun. The environment is structured and stresses development in basic and advanced skills as well as fitness, concentration, motivation, and self-discipline, with an emphasis on fun, excitement, and involvement.
Angel Lopez is the Director of Tennis for the Angel Lopez Tennis Academy and is a 2011 San Diego Tennis Hall of Fame inductee, a USPTA Certified Master Professional, a P.T.R. Certified coach, and a USA High Performance Coach. The broader leadership team includes a general manager, office coordinator, membership and bar & grill managers, a tennis coordinator, an assistant club manager, tennis pros, a group exercise coordinator, personal trainers, a Pilates professional, a swim instructor, a massage professional, a tennis shop operator, and a pickleball pro. The facility where the program takes place has been voted Best Value Club in the Nation, is described as family oriented, and offers memberships.
