Kids at Heart Free Tutoring Program offers free tutoring and mentoring for low-income students in grades K–12th. The program provides one-on-one tutoring focused on academic improvement and literacy skills, along with leadership training, life skills, and multi-week speaker sessions with group activities. Kids at Heart also hosts an annual summer picnic that includes food, games, and face painting.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: One-hour weekly sessions during the school year, with options on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays
• Price: Kids at Heart offers free tutoring and mentoring for low-income students in grades K–12th, including FREE virtual tutoring and mentoring for low-income students in grades K–12th.

Students are assigned to a trained volunteer tutor for weekly one-to-one tutoring sessions to assist with schoolwork and study habits. UPLIFT currently offers free one-to-one tutoring to advance academic achievement and accelerate literacy skills of at-risk youth, and provides both in-person and virtual tutoring. UPLIFT’s young adult mentoring includes leadership training and life skills through multi-week speaker sessions and group activities to help navigate teen life. The Kids At Heart program offers virtual tutoring countywide as well as in-person tutoring in the highest needs neighborhoods of the City of San Diego. UPLIFT was founded in 1987, and its mission is to advance community equity through free academic improvement and housing stability programs to break the cycle of poverty with love in action.
