About
Kids at Heart Free Tutoring Program offers free tutoring and mentoring for low-income students in grades K–12th. The program provides one-on-one tutoring with trained volunteer tutors and includes weekly one-to-one tutoring sessions. Kids at Heart also offers young adult mentoring with leadership training and life skills through multi-week speaker sessions and group activities, as well as a summer picnic with food, games, and face painting.

• Schedule: Weekly one-hour sessions, with options for up to three one-hour sessions on different days
• Price: Kids at Heart offers free tutoring and mentoring for low-income students in grades K-12th. Kids at Heart provides FREE virtual tutoring and mentoring for low-income students in grades K-12th.
The Kids At Heart program offers virtual tutoring countywide as well as in-person tutoring in the highest needs neighborhoods of the City of San Diego. Students are assigned to a trained volunteer tutor. Tutor eligibility includes being at least 18 years old, passing a background check, completing online mandated reporter training, attending Kids at Heart orientation and training, committing one hour per week during the school year from September through June, and having access to high-speed internet and a laptop for virtual tutoring. Kids at Heart is part of UPLIFT, which was founded in 1987. The program contact is Jan Magot at [email protected].
