Kidwings Nature School is a 100% outdoor nature and forest kindergarten, summer camp, and homeschool enrichment program that operates year-round and offers half-day programming. The program is based on the Scandinavian Forest School model and takes elements from Waldorf, Reggio Emilia, and Montessori approaches, with an emphasis on unstructured play and conscious parenting. It is described as a Nature Holistic School with a “magical classroom” where the sky is the roof and activities take place between pines and oaks, in the mud and baskets, and under pinecones and branches. The program also offers enrichment classes across the central area of San Diego and a nature camp experience in the summer months.

The founder, Sandra Brigman, is the Founder, Director, and Creative Facilitator of KidWings Nature Holistic School and is a mother, Emotional Coach, Energy Healer, and Child Development/Waldorf Educator. The stated goal of the program is to make children connect with their hearts through nature, free play, and creativity, and to provide a loving space that supports children’s wellbeing through nature immersion, nurturing and healing stories, movement with yoga moves, creative art, mindfulness through breathing, socio-emotional intelligence, and music. The mission further states that Kidwings aims to help children with life lessons and skills related to self-confidence, self-love, understanding of themselves and others, resilience, body awareness, emotion management, trusting their instincts, compassion for others, caring for mother earth, genuine communication, creativity, imagination, self-awareness, spiritual connection, and physical and emotional well-being.

Kidwings Nature School is described in its materials as being based on the Forest School model with significant personal, social, and emotional benefits.
