Momentum Acrobatics opened its Sorrento Valley headquarters in 2021 and serves hundreds of kids each month. The program was founded by former collegiate gymnast and veteran coach Misti Kay Blackledge, who competed for the University of Iowa, earned a degree in Exercise Physiology, and has over 30 years of coaching experience and 15 years of owning gyms in San Diego. The leadership team includes Misti Kay Blackledge (Founder, Owner, Head Coach, Head Acro Team Coach, Acrobatic Gymnastics), Johanna Blair (Office Manager, Assistant Coach), Ivan Flores (Head Coach and Rec Director, Head Trampoline and Tumbling Coach), Noad Lahat (Head Trainer and Director, Martial Arts), Rajkumar Gross (Head Parkour Instructor), Iva (Ivanna) Flores (Team Coordinator and Assistant Acro Coach), Glenn Lasker (Community Coordinator), Monze Flores (Assistant Coach, T&T, Acrobatics, Cirque), Ashley Thiner (Kickboxing/MMA Trainer), Yaroslav Ryazanov (Coach, Parkour and Ninja), Claire (Cirque Coach), Caitlin Bovee (Assistant Coach), Lauren Savage (Assistant Coach), Nicole Spitzen (Assistant Coach), and Skylar Kellerman (Assistant T&T Coach).

Momentum Acrobatics states that it was born out of a mission to get kids moving away from screens and into a safe, creative space for strength, confidence, and fun. The program describes itself as San Diego’s premier center for acrobatics, trampoline and tumbling, parkour, ninja, and cirque-style movement and notes that it introduced San Diego’s first Cirque and Parkour programs as inclusive alternatives to traditional sports. It reports consistent 5-star reviews from parents and recognition as a leader in fostering youth development. Momentum Acrobatics also highlights a new 16,000 sq. ft. expansion opening in Fall 2025 with an after-school program, enrichment classes, and adult classes. The program participates in community events, including taking the stage at the Mira Mesa Street Fair with high-energy movement, athletic skill, and creative performance.
