My Good Brain Programs was founded by Dr. Danessa Mayo, a California licensed clinical psychologist and visual artist, who serves as CEO and Founder. My Good Brain’s mission is to use art as a vehicle for change in teaching psychological tools for adaptive functioning in youth. The organization is an arts-based nonprofit focused on promoting mental wellness among school-aged youth, bridging psychology and art, and using art and play to teach children how to practice healthy coping strategies for mental and emotional wellness. Little Sound Minds is described as an inclusive, sensory-friendly, joyful, AAC-welcoming, and connection-focused music and movement class for toddlers and young kids.

My Good Brain Programs offers free, family-friendly events such as First Friday Open Studios, storytime and book signing events like January First Friday Storytime and Book Signing with Jessica Javier, and community art activity zones including the MGB x Clixo Art Activity Zone in Colma and the 4C's of Alameda Art Activity Booth. The organization participates in community events such as ArtWalk Liberty Station, the Annual Children’s Fair hosted by the 4C’s of Alameda, the Dia de los Niños event at Colma, and the Fremont Creates Grand Finale Event, often providing free interactive art activities for kids and families. It also provides Immigration & Family Support Resources to help youth, families, and communities better understand and support the mental health impacts of immigration-related experiences, offers free resources for children’s mental wellness, and focuses on reaching underprivileged youth and BIPOC communities. Parent support efforts aim to help parents feel more effective and empowered in helping their child with social-emotional development.

My Good Brain Programs also shares content through Sunday Art Club on YouTube and the My Good Mind Podcast, which is co-hosted by My Good Brain volunteers. A February 2021 reference appears in “Why We Need Art: A Human Way of Self-Help and Healing.”
