My Good Brain

My Good Brain is an arts-based nonprofit that offers activities such as Scrap Lab, a drop-in upcycling and recycling art class, Sunday Art Club, and Mini World Builders: Kids Art Workshop. The program also includes Little Sound Minds, an inclusive, sensory-friendly music and movement class for toddlers and young kids, as well as hands-on workshops like GLOW-UP YOUR HEART and Little Mess Club. Families can also access activities such as First Friday Open Studios, themed First Friday Art Walk events, and online options like the My Good Mind Podcast and Sunday Art Club on YouTube.

• Schedule: Ongoing activities including a weekly Tuesday Scrap Lab class from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, plus special events and workshops on selected dates throughout the year

My Good Brain was founded by Dr. Danessa Mayo, a California licensed clinical psychologist and visual artist, who serves as CEO and Founder. Its mission is to promote mental wellness among school-aged youth by using art and play to teach healthy coping strategies and psychological tools for adaptive functioning. The program bridges psychology and art through offerings such as the Mothers' Mental Health Circle, which explores emotions through art and movement, and the Little Sound Minds toddler music and wellness workshops.

My Good Brain participates in community events including ArtWalk Liberty Station with free interactive art activities for kids and families, the MGB x Clixo Art Activity Zone in Colma, the 4C's of Alameda Annual Children’s Fair, the Dia de los Niños arts and crafts booth at Colma, and the MGB Arts & Crafts Zone at the Fremont Creates Grand Finale Event. It also provides a free resource for San Diego veterans and parents of young children, along with Immigration & Family Support Resources that address the mental health impacts of immigration-related experiences.
