The stated mission of i9 Sports Youth Sports Programs is to help kids succeed in life through sports by providing a youth sports experience that teaches the importance of good sportsmanship on the field and in life. i9 Sports is described as the nation’s largest multi-sport provider focused solely on high-quality, community-based youth sports programs, with over 5 million registrations in communities across the country. The program is committed to age-appropriate instruction, making sports fun for kids, and being convenient for busy families. Camps, including Nike Kids Camps powered by i9 Sports, are for ages 5–12, with age groups broken out so kids work on age-appropriate skills.
Youth flag football leagues are beginner-friendly, frequently run year-round, and are available nationwide. Youth soccer leagues are for ages 3–14 and include weekly games while helping kids discover and build a love of soccer, sportsmanship, and athletics. Youth basketball leagues are beginner-friendly and for ages 5–14, and youth volleyball leagues focus on growth, development, and sportsmanship. Some locations also offer lacrosse, cheerleading, tennis, and additional multi-sport programs, along with after-school programs, camps, and clinics.
Each week, one of nine sportsmanship values is built into both practice and game play across all age groups, and a sportsmanship medal is awarded to a player who best demonstrates the weekly value. Families can earn $10 off their next registration for every friend they refer who registers. i9 Sports is proud to support the Aspen Institute’s national Project Play initiative and has been selected as a Project Play Champion for taking meaningful actions to encourage multi-sport sampling and help grow national youth sports participation rates.
Parents have shared that the program is very well run and focuses on teaching good sportsmanship and respect for one another, and that it has been a positive experience to see kids enjoy playing sports with no pressure about performance, as described by Erica M. from Phoenix, AZ. Christian F. from Atlanta, GA, noted appreciation for a safe escape for children to be kids while learning both athletic and life skills, with good communication and thought-out measures. Kerry G. from New Braunfels, TX, stated that the program continued despite COVID concerns and that the sites felt safe and were set up very well. Lisa G. from Charlotte, NC, highlighted that practice, game, and fun all take place in one morning and that her coach has been well organized and the players have learned a lot.
