About

San Diego Children's Choir offers choral training, music education, rehearsals, and performance opportunities. Rehearsal activities draw from the Orff and Kodaly methods, with an emphasis on well-supported head-voice singing. Collaborative professional musicians accompany rehearsals and performances, and choristers can take on leadership roles, including formal leadership roles at older levels.

• Ages: 1–18 years old

Founded in 1990, the San Diego Children's Choir is the area's oldest and largest choral training program serving children ages 1–18 at locations throughout San Diego County. Music literacy is taught at every level and includes healthy vocal technique, pitch matching, sight reading music, identifying structural elements, and working well as a group. The mission of the San Diego Children's Choir is to provide children with music education and performance opportunities that foster performance excellence and collaboration at the highest artistic level, nurturing individual development and creating a foundation for lifelong success, and to enrich the cultural fabric of San Diego County through the transformative power of music. Over 70% of underserved children in its programs receive donor-funded free music education. Parent surveys have described the instructors as “absolutely amazing” and “gifted.”
