Coach Brandon Cheeks is a Queens, New York native, a San Diego City College alumnus, and a former collegiate athlete at Cal State Long Beach. Coach Jeremiah Ryden is a San Diego native, a seasoned basketball coach with extensive experience, and an assistant coach with the San Diego Sharks. A coach with the program has been a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and small business owner for over ten years and holds a NCAA Gold Certification. The Sharks were established in 2022 and have been bringing their brand of basketball to San Diego since their inaugural pro season in 2022. The San Diego Sharks Foundation states that it makes basketball accessible for everyone in San Diego by giving away thousands of free Sharks tickets each season and producing free kids basketball clinics around San Diego County. The San Diego Sharks have announced a community partnership with Alaska Airlines and the Challenged Athletes Foundation. The Sharks are a founding team in the relaunch of the 94x50, described as the nation's premier league for emerging basketball talent.
