San Diego Youth Services has been building futures for over 50 years and opened in 1970 as the first emergency shelter for runaway and homeless youth in San Diego. Its mission is empowering youth to thrive by meeting their basic needs and providing lifelong skills for self-sufficiency and achieving their life ambitions. San Diego Youth Services provides services at over 100 community and school locations and offers comprehensive services including case management, counseling, mental health treatment, and educational support and resources. The organization provides services to nearly 16,000 youth each year and has improved the lives of more than 834,000 homeless, runaway, and other vulnerable youth. Chief Human Resources Officer Kristen Diggs was recognized as a 2026 Leader of Influence. One youth shared, “I am forever grateful to San Diego Youth Services.
