The program offers family martial arts and fitness for all, with tailored programs for all ages and abilities, including specialized classes for children, teenagers, adults, and individuals with special needs. Classes are described as having a small student-to-teacher ratio and engaging character-building sessions, and the environment is described as supportive, safe, and inclusive. When families sign up, they are provided with a uniform and t-shirt.

The Owner and Chief Master Instructor is Master Sal Convento, who is a distinguished Two-Time World Champion and a seasoned martial artist with over 36 years of experience. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and served as a Surface Warfare Officer and Naval Aviator in the U.S. Navy for 10.5 years. He holds a Master of Science in Executive Leadership from the University of San Diego and a Master’s in Management from the University of Redlands. He is a Fourth Degree Master Instructor in World Tang Soo Do and a Fourth Degree Black Belt in Karate Do under Master John Critzos, II at the United States Naval Academy, and is also described as a former world champion in multiple disciplines and a former Naval aviator.

The mission of United States Karate Academy Martial Arts Programs is to empower every student to reach their full potential and help them achieve their goals and dreams. The mission also states that the academy aims to develop children and adults to be physically fit, mentally sharp, emotionally stable, and spiritually sound in order to have productive members of society. Master Convento is described as wanting to give back to the community.

Parents describe the staff as welcoming and caring of their students and note that uniforms and t-shirts are provided at sign-up. One parent reports that their children participated in the Tiny Tigers program, learned courage and discipline, made friends, and later returned to the academy after a military move, mentioning a very good price plus a discount and that their children competed in a competition and received trophies. Another parent from the Eastlake location describes the academy as immaculate and serene, with many class times to choose from, plenty of parking and seating, and notes that their daughter is learning karate techniques along with discipline, focus, goal achievement, and confidence, and that they started after seeing a flyer offering 1 week free and a private lesson. A parent of a child with emotional and behavioral issues reports that their daughter has taken to karate and the discipline that goes with it, and that Master Sal Convento understands military life and adjusts to schedule changes and goals. Another parent of a Tiny Tiger at USKA Eastlake notes that after 8 weeks their child earned a first stripe on a white belt and that small class sizes and safety protocols were in place.
