• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: The Fundamentals of Brazilian Jiujitsu and Self-Defense for Beginners program includes 25 structured classes.
The Fundamentals program consists of 25 structured classes, each covering a standing self-defense technique and a sequence of ground techniques, and does not require previous martial arts or sparring experience. After attending 50 classes and earning a second stripe, students are invited to attend the Advanced Class, which focuses on hundreds of advanced Brazilian Jiujitsu and self-defense techniques aligned with Master Rickson Gracie and the Jiujitsu Global Federation (JJGF) goals. The advanced curriculum uses a “Sequential Learning” concept, emphasizes transitions between positions, and focuses on positional mastery in Mount, Side Mount, Guard, Half Guard, and Back Mount.
Global Kids Self-Defense is offered for ages 4–7 and addresses bullying while emphasizing character building and situational awareness. Global Teens Self-Defense is offered for ages 8–12 as a transition class from Global Kids to the Fundamentals Program and introduces sparring from every position under direct supervision. In the Global Teens class, a new character trait is introduced and discussed each month during the stretch-n-talk session.
Jiujitsu Global - San Dimas is a family-owned small business and a Certified Jiujitsu Global Federation (JJGF) Academy, and it is a recognized member of the International Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Federation (IBJJF/USBJJF). It is described as a Black Belt Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Self-defense Academy and as the friendliest and safest place to learn traditional self-defense style Brazilian Jiujitsu in the area, with a focus on smaller group classes for better instructor-student interaction. On an average training week, students can train with 4 Black Belts, 3 Brown Belts, Purple Belts, Blue Belts, and beginners, and visitors are welcome to sit in during classes to observe, with encouragement to participate.
The owner and instructor, Professor Jorge, has been in the martial arts industry for over 15 years, has studied Combat Aikido, Judo, and kickboxing, trained Brazilian Jiujitsu with Professor Roy Harris and Judo with Dr. Lyman Connoly, and attended one of the first Jiu-jitsu Instructor Certification Programs under the Gracie Academy in Torrance in 2009. From 1997 to 2001, he trained BJJ and Judo while in college, opened the first Gracie Combatives Program in the San Gabriel Valley region in 2009, and operated La Puente Combatives from 2010 to 2018, which reached Level 4 certification before moving to the City of San Dimas in 2019. By the end of 2020, the San Dimas family had grown to almost 200 students, and in December 2023 the academy was recognized and registered under the IBJJF/USBJJF after a 3-year provisional status, allowing students to compete at the highest levels of national and international competition.
Their stated common goal is to be a black belt on the mat and off the mat in all other areas of life, with an emphasis on character building and situational awareness for children in a safe, fun, and friendly atmosphere. They are dedicated to the self-defense aspect of Brazilian Jiujitsu and follow the curriculum established by Grandmasters Carlos and Helio Gracie, the JJGF, and IBJJF/USBJJF. They serve students from San Dimas and neighboring cities including Rancho Cucamonga, Pomona, Covina, La Verne, and Claremont, offer a 10-day free trial, and ask visitors not to come inside the building if they have signs or symptoms of any respiratory illness or infectious diseases.
