About

Au P’tit Monde de San Francisco is a French immersion preschool where children take part in activities such as art projects, music, dance, and teacher-guided play. In the “Petite Ecole” and “Grande Ecole,” lessons take place entirely in French, and from day one classes are taught using French immersion, with teachers using a combination of visual and verbal indicators when speaking. The school provides homemade, organic, and wholesome meals, and children do not need to be potty trained to attend, and no prior French language is required.

• Ages: 2–5 years old
• Schedule: School day runs from 8:00am to 5:30pm on a 12-month calendar year from September to August

Founded in 2004, Au P’tit Monde (APM) offers a French language immersion education for children ages 2–5, with classes taught using French immersion from the first day. The program is described as focusing on establishing independent work habits and developing language and social skills, while also addressing cognitive, emotional, and physical growth. According to the program description, children engaging in teacher-guided play learn how to follow directions and cooperate, while developing gross and fine motor skills, self control, confidence, and self-esteem.

Au P’tit Monde de San Francisco holds License #384004012. Parents may opt to enroll their child in a 2-, 3-, or 5-day program.

One parent from the Kruger family states that both their daughter and son attended the school and that they observed growth in their children’s behavioral, social, and language abilities, describing Au P’tit Monde as an extremely nurturing place for children. A parent from the French family reports feeling privileged to send their children to APM and notes that, although the program is fun for the kids, they see a lot of learning taking place and view APM as an important part of the “village” helping raise their children. The Hess family shares that their daughter is thriving at APM and describes the staff as loving, creative, energetic, and well-educated, and notes that in addition to learning a new language, children explore new ideas, express themselves through art projects, music, and dance, and use their imaginations in play.
