About
Area Youth Ministry (AYM) is a nationwide non-profit Christian youth organization that connects teens with like-minded peers and mentors through activities such as volleyball leagues and tournaments, open gyms, club teams, and sports camps. The program also offers AYM Winter and Summer Camps, camps and retreats, the AYM Summer Festival, all-nighter events, and AYM clinics. Students can take part in activities focused on sports, Code & Design, STEM, Impact, apologetics conferences, and workshops that answer many “tough questions,” as well as events like Lead the Cause with Dare 2 Share Ministries, IGNITION, and the Intersect Winter Retreat.
• Ages: 13–18 years old
AYM started in 2018 and is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is not a church. It is a parachurch ministry of Acts2 Network and is made up of college students and alumni with the goal of mentoring teens and supporting the community. AYM began in the SF Bay Area and now has 25 chapters across the nation, plus one chapter in Taipei, Taiwan, and one in Vancouver, Canada, and offers mentorship, summer camps, resources for Christian clubs, special events, and sports camps for youth in over 25 cities in the United States. AYM mentors go through background checks, screening, and required references, and they undergo annual safety and compliance training before doing any work that involves minors; the program has a “2-Adult Rule” when meeting with minors, and in-person mentorship meetings take place in open, public spaces.
AYM’s mission is to connect teens with caring mentors, provide support to help youth mature in Christ, and inspire them through Scripture to be agents of God’s love in their schools, families, and communities, with a stated desire to bless the community and youth in the area with the love of Jesus. AYM is a parachurch ministry of Acts2 Network and partners with Word of Life ministries to host the Intersect Winter Retreat. It also partners with many local and Gospel-advancing churches and organizations to put on events, apologetics conferences, summer camps, and other activities to reach students with the Good News of the love of Jesus. One mentee shared, “Thank you AYM for coming to teach us God’s word. We always appreciate your hard work and patience, and we really admire your dedication and how you spread the love of God to us. It really means a lot!” — EL (AYM Mentee).
