Before & After School Programs

Before & After School Programs are part of the YMCA of Greater San Francisco’s offerings and are described as safe spaces for students to learn and grow when not in school. The programs foster each child’s cognitive, social-emotional, and physical development through opportunities and experiences that focus on achievement, relationship-building, and belonging. These programs operate within an organization that serves more than 130,000 people through 15 neighborhood branches, more than 130 program sites, and one residential camp across Marin, San Francisco, and San Mateo Counties.

The YMCA of Greater San Francisco was established during the Gold Rush in 1853 and has more than 170 years of history. Its mission is to empower each person’s journey and strengthen the foundations of community. The YMCA of Greater San Francisco is a 501(c)3 charitable community organization, and its staff and volunteers are described as making a difference in the lives of those they serve every day. The organization states that it works to strengthen the communities it serves, helping people experience personal wellness along with a collective sense of power and purpose.
