About

Tinkering School gives kids real tools to solve real problems through hands-on building projects. Tinkerers work with materials such as wood, metal, cardboard, and sometimes paint, and projects are team-designed and team-created with staff. The program offers Summer Day Camp, Summer Overnight Camp, After School Programs, and Weekend Workshops, and it offers chances to tinker after school, during the summer, and on weekends.

• Ages: 6–17 years old

Founded in 2005, Tinkering School is celebrating 20 years of “think.make.tinker.” The program’s mission statement says that it believes kids are more capable than they know, and that by learning through doing, participants strive to make mistakes and learn from them, collaborate and make friends, and try harder than usual. Tinkering School is a project of the Institute for Applied Tinkering, a non-profit organization. The founder is Gever Tulley. Tinkering School is a trademark of Tinkering Unlimited and is registered in the US Patent and Trademark Office.
