CANVAS Dance Arts

CANVAS Dance Arts offers youth dance classes, adult dance classes, mini sessions, full sessions, summer camps, and community events. Classes and camps include ballet classes, hip hop classes, jazz classes, Hip Hop Beginning, Ballet/Hip Hop Basics, Ballet Beginning, and the DANCEproduction program. Week-long camps include dance classes, art time, outdoor time for lunch, and a Friday performance, and also provide dance video content as a final memory from camp.

CANVAS Dance Arts was formed in 2021 after Simone van der Meer and Angela Yuen Uyeda first crossed paths in July 2015 and shifted from in-studio teaching in 2020 due to a global health crisis. Co-founders Ms Simone (Simone van der Meer) and Miss Angela (Angela Yuen Uyeda) lead the program. Simone van der Meer has been teaching dance and movement in the Bay Area for over 10 years and has staged and costumed multiple productions for dancers of all ages. Angela Yuen Uyeda teaches students of all ages, from toddlers to teens to seniors, and has performed on stages across the United States. The mission of CANVAS Dance Arts is to provide an inclusive, positive environment that helps students grow and develop a passion for the performing arts.

CANVAS Dance Arts serves its community as an outlet for individual artistry and collaboration on creative projects and as a community for dancers and their families to create, connect, and explore. A San Francisco native, Angela Yuen Uyeda shares the joy of dance in studios and in public and private schools. The program offers two groups for summer camp and asks families to check the age group for which they are registering. Currently enrolled students receive priority registration for the following session.

Dancewear for class and stage is available, with sizing kits for shoes, leotards, and pants. All dancewear items may be purchased online and shipped, and CDA Logo Apparel with a sparkle logo may be purchased on-site in several sizes and styles, with a discount price when purchasing two or more of the same CDA Logo Apparel item.
