Randall Museum Classes and Camps offers hands-on art and science activities, including woodshop classes, art classes, science classes, STEM courses, and Saturday Drop In Art & Science Classes. Families can join specific activities such as Birding the Hill - Guided Birdwatching, Saturday Science and Afternoon Art workshops, Meet an Animal Ambassador, and guided, educational Hikes on the Hill led by animal and plant life experts. The Randall Museum’s integrated program of hands-on learning and recreation fosters a love of science, nature, and the arts. Classes are offered for all ages in science, nature, and art, and they change every quarterly season. Camps are separated into different age groups with hands-on age-appropriate art and science activities, and scholarships are available through the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department, which also requires a family account for registration.
Membership through Randall Museum Friends includes priority registration and a $10 discount for members on classes (not summer camps), a 50% discount on Saturday Drop In Art & Science Classes, a 10% discount at Café Josephine and the front-desk gift shop, exclusive invitations to special semi-annual member events, invitations to After Hours Museum Visits for certain membership levels, and exclusive invitations to guided, educational Hikes on the Hill for certain membership levels. Certain membership levels include a free field trip at the museum for a club or child’s class group, and Vista Circle members have the option for a free gift membership, a free Randall on the Road mobile nature and science field trip, a free animal or art birthday party, or a free evening rental of the Randall Theater, with conditions. Randall Museum Friends is a non-profit organization that supports the museum by providing strategic private-sector leadership, fundraising, administration, and volunteer coordination for museum programs.
The museum includes labs and studios such as an Art Studio, Ceramics Studio, Woodshop, The Garage/STEAM Lab, a Natural Sciences Lab, and a Theater, as well as exhibits including Live Animal Exhibits, a Toddler Treehouse, and Collectors Corner. Café Josephine on site offers coffee, pastries, and “grab and go” items, plus breakfast or lunch on a sunny patio with views. The museum offers space rentals for birthdays, weddings, and community and business events, including children’s birthday experiences featuring art and animal activities.
