Bay Area Disc Youth Ultimate Programs

Bay Area Disc Youth Ultimate Programs introduces kids and teens to the sport of Ultimate and uses the game to bring players together across different backgrounds. The program emphasizes four core values in its youth offerings: Fun, Respect, Community, and Belonging. It also promotes Spirit of the Game in how players interact, develop, and compete in Ultimate.

• Ages: 8–18 years old

Bay Area Disc was founded in 2009 and became an independent nonprofit disc organization by September 2018, after operating under the fiscal sponsorship of Community Initiatives within its first ten years. By 2011, it had established a Youth Division to host low-cost programming, train new coaches, foster diverse events, and create new teams for kids in elementary, middle, and high school. The organization runs more than 100 distinct Ultimate programs in 75 different cities across all nine Bay Area counties and serves 5,000 adult and youth players each year. During the COVID-19 pandemic from March 2020 to May 2021, staff ran alternative programming, remote events, and shared educational resources for adult and youth players. Bay Area Disc credits partners including Olympic Club Foundation, Ultimate Impact, Bay Area Falcons, Oakland Spiders, GuideStar, and Discraft in supporting its work.
