Since 1999, San Francisco Youth Ballet Academy has been sharing the joy of classical dance with children. The program’s curriculum is designed to offer the beauty of classical study to any student who desires to learn, from pre-ballet students to the most advanced dancers. The academy promotes teamwork while encouraging individual creativity, and offers multiple opportunities each year to perform onstage and in other settings, including a school-year student performance in May where all students are encouraged to participate. Its syllabus incorporates French and Russian ballet techniques and focuses on developing flexibility and coordination, increasing memory skills, and promoting physical wellness. The consistent classroom structure focuses on respect for others and the art of ballet, dedication toward practice, accomplishment, and fun, and the academy states that it is devoted to children’s emotional and physical well-being as they pursue their dreams.
