AVAC Swim School

AVAC Swim School offers year-round swim classes for ages 0-19, with students grouped by age and ability. The class options include Barnacles, Starfish, Polliwog, Guppy, Sea Horse, Jellyfish, Octopus, Sea Turtle, and Otter. It also offers Summer Sprint Lessons, Open Swim, and a free Barnacles class for ages 8 weeks to 5 months.

• AVAC Swim School Classes — 0-19 · Once per week, 30-minute classes, year-round; students are grouped by age and ability · $49.50 per class
• Summer Sprint Lessons — Monday through Friday for 1 week; 30-minute lessons offered from 9:30 am - 12 pm; sessions run from June 1st to August 10th · A week of extra lesson time to get ready for summer vacations and family trips.
• Open Swim — Saturdays and Sundays; two time slots: 3:30-4:10 pm or 4:20-5 pm
• Barnacles — 8 weeks to 5 months · Free class. Focuses on water adaptation and comfort in the pool.
• Starfish — 4-18 months · Parent-tot class focusing on comfort in the water, basic swimming skills, and water safety.
• Polliwog — Parent-tot class for older toddlers focusing on basic swimming skills, water safety, and independent movement.
• Guppy — Beginning of the child's transition into independent water exploration.
• Sea Horse — Focuses on increasing breath control and beginning to learn to roll from back to stomach.
• Jellyfish — Introduction to correct head/body positioning through proper glides and circle swims in the deep end.
• Octopus — Focuses on proper kicking technique and learning to swim, roll to the back for a breath, and continue swimming.
• Sea Turtle — Works on proper arm strokes and transitions into both safety and swimming skills.
• Otter — Builds endurance and prepares for 1-2-bubbles-breathe.

About the provider

AVAC Swim School is local and family owned since 1976. Its mission is creating comfortable and confident swimmers while teaching a life-saving skill and providing a family-centered experience. The school describes its lessons as award-winning and uses proprietary child-development-based methods.

Once registered, students attend the same class each week. Students 3 and older are placed in small group classes with a 4:1 student to teacher ratio. Class size/ratio listed in FAQ: 4:1 for Group Lessons, 6:1 for Parent Tot, 16:1 for Pre-Comp, 15:1 for Barnacles. Group lessons are $49.50 per class. Perpetual automatic billing is on the 20th of every month. Inactive families can reserve Open Swim using make up tokens.
