Camp Fashionista offers sewing, drawing, knitting, crochet, fashion illustration, Anime drawing, and hand sewing activities, along with specialized options such as Anime & Fashion Drawing and Knitting & Crochet. Camp Fashionista runs summer camps from June 1st to August 28th, 2026, with half and full-day options and new projects each week, and all materials for projects are provided, including fabric, thread, and trim. Campers in half day camps are asked to bring a snack, and campers in full day camps are asked to bring snacks and lunch, with the option for parents to send money and verbal permission for Starbucks or Bagel Guys, under a no-caffeine, no-venti drink policy that requires explicit parental permission for Starbucks snacks and drinks. When projects are finished early or during lunch, students have access to a fashion library, drawing supplies, and mini mannequins, and they can choose extra free sew projects, draw, look through the fashion library, or drape designs on mini mannequins.
Camp Fashionista operates in a big green studio where students have access to a water cooler, and a microwave and mini fridge are available upon request. The program notes that it does not have facilities for outside play time. For machine sewing camps, campers are expected to have completed Intro to Machine Sewing, and for hand sewing camps, Intro to Hand Sewing, and if it has been more than six months since a camper last sewed, they are asked to contact Camp Fashionista for a refresher course before joining intermediate or harder level camps.
The mission statement for Camp Fashionista is, “Take your first steps into the exciting world of Fashion Design!” The fashion illustration curriculum was developed by Dori using her extensive experience, and Dori is listed as a contact for the program. The Denim Repair Workshop was taught by a resident Levi’s-trained tailor named Amy.
Camp Fashionista offers a Girl Scout Badge Program developed in partnership with Girl Scouts of Northern California, and it is open to all Girl Scouts and adults. One parent testimonial states that “Dori has wonderful methods of teaching. She is passionate, patient and knowledgeable. My daughter’s creativity got inspired in many ways. She enjoyed every lesson that she has taken. The curriculum is diverse, including sewing & fashion illustration.”
