GloGlo BJJ offers Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kickboxing, Kids' Self Defense classes, and Anti-Bullying Self Defense strategies. The program includes instruction in these specific martial arts and self defense activities for kids and teens.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
GloGlo BJJ is led by founder Leonardo Seixas, known as “GloGlo.” His Jiu-Jitsu training began in 1989 at the Gracie Humaita headquarters in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, under Grandmaster Helio Gracie, with both private and group lessons from Masters Rolker and Royler Gracie. In 1992, he continued his training with Master Carlos Gracie Jr., founder of Gracie-Barra and the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation, and he earned his black belt from Master Carlos Gracie Jr. after a decade of training. He began teaching Jiu-Jitsu classes in 1996 and has 28 years of teaching experience, during which he has nurtured several Jiu-Jitsu champions. In 1998, he became involved with the Confederacao Brasileira de Jiu-Jitsu, gaining experience organizing the Brazilian, Pan American, and World Championships.
The program’s mission is to offer Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Kickboxing training in a supportive, family-oriented environment for individuals of all ages and fitness levels, with expert instruction, guidance, and support. The mission also states that the academy honors each person’s unique strengths and skills, fosters a strong sense of community that makes it feel like home, and is committed to helping each individual reach their full potential and overcome limitations. The facility is described as a modern, state of the art space with the largest mat space in San Jose, California, including 4,500 square feet overall and 2,500 square feet of mat space divided into four competition areas plus an additional space reserved for private classes, along with two restrooms, two changing rooms, and ample parking.
