Grail Family Services Programs for Families is part of Grail Family Services, which offers innovative programs that give children a strong start and provide parents with knowledge and tools to support their children’s healthy development and learning. The organization also offers Programs for Early Educators and Community Partnerships, and provides professional development for teachers and childcare providers to promote family engagement, early literacy, and early math and to create equitable partnerships that support child success. The Building Blocks of Parenting (BBP) App is available in English and Spanish for free and is used so parents and caregivers can support their child’s healthy development during the early years.
Grail Family Services’ founding organization, The Grail, came to the Mayfair Community in the 1960s. Grail Family Services partners with families, schools, and communities to promote children’s success and well-being. The organization conducts collaborative initiatives that strengthen the community by promoting equity, uplifting parent voices, and advocating for change that responds to community needs, and it has deep roots in East San José, with local families providing input to the original project and participating in the groundbreaking ceremony. GFS operates according to core values of Respect, Collaboration, Integrity, Inclusion, Family, and Quality, and is focused on ensuring that every child has equal access to a quality early education, promoting equitable partnerships between parents and educators to support children’s learning and success, and lifting the collective voice of families in the community to advocate for policies that benefit families with young children and that strengthen the community. One parent shared that she first came to Grail Family Services nine years earlier with her baby to attend the NuParent program and ESL classes, and described how learning English there was very important to her and how she now wants to help people the way GFS helped her and be an example for her daughter.
