Pinecone Active Learning

Pinecone Active Learning offers children’s writing tutoring, grammar tutoring, reading tutoring, math tutoring, essay writing tutoring, and Adventures in AI. The writing tutoring covers paragraph structure, sentence craft, vocabulary, essay organization, and revision. The grammar tutoring covers parts of speech, sentence structure, punctuation, and mechanics. The reading tutoring includes comprehension, vocabulary, analysis, fluency, annotation, and note-taking. The math tutoring covers early numeracy through pre-algebra and high school geometry. Essay writing tutoring includes analytical essays, personal statements, college application essays, and SAT and ACT writing prep. Adventures in AI includes AI literacy, ethical reasoning, pattern recognition, and communication with tools.

Programs

• Children's Writing Tutor — 2nd grade through high school · Twice weekly; short daily home practice · One-on-one and small-group writing tutoring; paragraph structure, sentence craft, vocabulary, essay organization, and revision.
• Grammar Tutor — 2nd grade through high school · Twice weekly; woven into writing sessions and available as dedicated grammar-only sessions · Parts of speech, sentence structure, punctuation, and mechanics.
• Reading Tutor — 2nd grade and up · Twice a week; short daily practice at home · One-on-one and small-group instruction in comprehension, vocabulary, analysis, fluency, annotation, and note-taking.
• Math Tutor — K through 12 · Twice weekly · Individualized math tutoring from early numeracy through pre-algebra and high school geometry.
• Essay Writing Tutor — Middle school and high school · Analytical essays, personal statements, college application essays, and SAT and ACT writing prep.
• Adventures in AI — Middle school and high school; roughly 6th grade and up · Workshop series; less frequent than core programs · AI literacy for older students, including ethical reasoning, pattern recognition, and communication with tools.

About the provider

Pinecone Active Learning originally opened in 2008. It is a writing-first center focused on strengthening reading, writing, reasoning, and related academic skills. It serves families across Evergreen, Silver Creek, The Villages, Santa Teresa, and the broader East San Jose Aborn corridor.

Tuition is per subject, per student. Tuitions are non-refundable. Registration fees are $65 for the first child and $35 for each sibling signed up concurrently. A written notice prior to the 1st of your final month is required for a temporary absence or termination. Students returning after more than a two-month absence must re-register, pay a new registration fee, and may be subject to current tuition rates.
