About
San Jose - Butcher Park Youth Volleyball offers youth volleyball with league play. The program runs on Thursdays and Saturdays and uses a grass playing surface. Instructional leagues are open to all children ages 7-15 who want to learn and play volleyball, and interest and enthusiasm for volleyball are the only requirements for playing with USYVL.
• Ages: 7–15 years old
• Schedule: Thursdays 6:00 PM–7:00 PM and Saturdays 9:00 AM–10:00 AM, from April 2, 2026 to June 6, 2026
• Price: Early Registration: $150 due by 12/01/25; Regular Registration: $175 until 03/01/26; Late Registration: $200 until 04/01/26
The co-ed league is divided into four divisions: ages 7–8, 9–10, 11–12, and 13–15, based on the child’s age on November 1, 2026. Registration includes a t-shirt and a medal, and full schedules are provided after the season begins. Up to three Saturday game days may run 2 hours and may be held at another nearby USYVL location within approximately 20 miles to accommodate inter-site play.
The league is directed by a Clinician (Head Volleyball Coach) who organizes, instructs, supervises, and maintains volunteer coaches in the instruction of each team, and this Clinician has experience playing and/or coaching volleyball at the high school, club, college, or higher level. USYVL is fueled by volunteers and relies on dedicated parents to make each season a success. The mission of the program is playing volleyball in a fun, safe environment nationwide.
Players should bring their volleyball. Recommended volleyballs are the Molten VBU12 for divisions 7–8, 9–10, and 11–12, and the IVU-BLU for division 13–15, which are described as good quality, official size volleyballs with a soft cover, and can be purchased at www.usyvl.org/store if a player does not already own one.
