San Jose Dance Theatre Academy

San Jose Dance Theatre Academy offers Pre-Ballet A, Pre-Ballet B, Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, Level 4, Level 5, Level 6, Level 7, and an Adult Open Division. Youth Ballet classes are offered in Pre-Ballet, Primary Division, Intermediate Division, and Advanced Division, and placement classes are offered throughout the year. New students are accepted year-round.

• Pre-Ballet A — 4-5 · Saturday 9:00-9:45 am; Saturday 11:00-11:45 am · $236 · 45 min, 1 class/week. Spring tuition: $320.
• Pre-Ballet B — 5.5-8 · Saturday 9:45-10:45 am · $296 · 60 min, 1 class/week. Spring tuition: $410.
• Level 1 — 6-8 · Tuesdays and Fridays 5:00-6:00 pm; Wednesday 5:00-6:00 pm and Saturday 9:00-10:00 am · $1,490 · 60 min, 2 classes/week; 2 classes required.
• Level 2 — 7-10 · Tuesdays and Wednesdays 6:00-7:15 pm; Wednesday and Fridays 6:00-7:15 pm · $2,040 · 1.25 hr, 2 classes/week; 2 classes required.
• Level 3 — 8-12 · Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays 4:30-6:00 pm · $3,520 · 3 classes/week.
• Level 4 — Mondays and Fridays 6:00-7:30 pm; Tuesdays 6:00-8:00 pm · $4,450 · 3 days/week, 5 hr of instruction. Placement classes required.
• Level 5 — Mondays 5:00-6:45 pm; Wednesdays and Thursdays 5:00-7:00 pm; Saturdays 10:00-11:30 am · $5,700 · 4 days/week, 7.25 hr of instruction. Placement classes required.

• Adult Open Division — adult · Varies by class during the week · $22–$270 · Open adult division; tuition listed as $22 drop-in, $210 for 10 Class Ballet Technique Pass, and $270 for 10 Class Technique Plus+ Pass.

About the provider

San Jose Dance Theatre has 60 years of ballet excellence in San Jose. Its mission is to develop, foster, and promote the positive impact of dance in Silicon Valley through accessible performances, excellent training, creative outreach, and collaboration. San Jose Dance Theatre is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Full-time enrollment is expected for academy dancers (Level 1 and up). Dancers are required to attend all scheduled classes for their level, including spring, fall, and summer intensive. Makeup classes can be arranged in a lower level. Performance participation depends on proximity to show dates for students starting mid-term. Tuition can be paid annually, by semester, or monthly via installment plan. Performance fees are separate. Advanced dancers may audition for SJDT’s Studio Company.
