San Jose Parents Participating Nursery School

San Jose Parents Participating Nursery School is a cooperative nursery school administered and maintained by parents. It uses a play-based curriculum and requires parent participation in class, committee jobs, mandatory meetings, community event shifts, and facility maintenance workdays.

Programs

• 1-Day Class — 1 year old by September 1, 2026 · Wednesdays, 2:00-4:00 PM · Caregivers attend each class with their child. Class is restricted to 24 children, 1 paid teacher, 24 caregivers per class day.
• 2-Day Class — 2 years old by September 1, 2026 · Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9:00-11:30 AM · Caregivers participate in the classroom on either Tuesdays or Thursdays. Classes are restricted to 24 children with 1 paid teacher, 9 caregivers and 1 on-call parent per class day.
• 3-Day Class — 3 years old by September 1, 2026 · Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 9:00-11:30 AM
• Pre-K Class — 4 years old by September 1, 2026 · Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, 12:30-4:00 PM

Founded in 1951, the program is an interracial, non sectarian, non-profit organization concerned with the welfare of preschool children. Each class is directed by a credentialed teacher/director experienced in early childhood education and development, and the school is licensed by the State, License #430700551. It is a member of the Santa Clara Valley Council (SCVC).

SJPPNS is an interracial, non sectarian, non-profit organization concerned with the welfare of preschool children. 1-Day families are required to do one 4-hour Saturday workday per year. 2-Day, 3-Day, and Pre-K families are required to do two 4-hour Saturday workdays per year, per family.
