• Ages: 3–5 years old
San Jose Parents Participating Nursery School was founded in 1951 by a group of dedicated moms and dads. Required parent participation is part of the program structure and results in a high adult to child ratio and low monthly tuitions. The school is licensed by the State, License #430700551, and is affiliated with local and state councils of Parent Nursery Schools and San Jose Education. The program states that it believes in the individuality of children and uses a play-based curriculum in which parents and teachers facilitate children’s social, cognitive, and physical growth in a safe, trusting environment. Building each child’s self esteem and autonomy is described as central to its philosophy and basic to a child’s social and academic success. Teachers and parents, through gentle persuasion and encouragement, introduce children to new experiences for them to explore, problem solve, and discover, and the program states that it prepares children to embark on their life-long journey of learning. The school notes that it is celebrating 75 incredible years.
