About

San Jose Parents Participating Nursery School is a cooperative nursery school that is administered and maintained by parents. Each class is directed by a credentialed teacher/director who is experienced in early childhood education and development. The program uses a play-based curriculum in which parents and teachers work together with children in a safe, trusting environment.

• Ages: 3–5 years old

San Jose Parents Participating Nursery School was founded in 1951 by a group of dedicated moms and dads. It is an interracial, non sectarian, non-profit organization concerned with the welfare of preschool children. Required parent participation is part of the program structure and results in a high adult to child ratio and low monthly tuitions. The mission of the program states that it believes in the individuality of children and that play is the work of young children, with a focus on building each child’s self esteem and autonomy as part of social and academic success. The program is affiliated with local and state councils of Parent Nursery Schools and San Jose Education and is licensed by the State (License #430700551).
