At Sunnymont-Westside Parent Participation Nursery School, the stated mission is: “Where childhood is honored, individuals are valued just as they are, & parents and children learn together…At Sunnymont-Westside Parent Participation Nursery School, we believe children learn best as nature intends them to, through play.” The program is a parent participation nursery school where each family works alongside teachers in the classroom and families contribute to the running of the school. The curriculum is planned by teachers with specific learning goals in mind and includes social, emotional, cognitive, and physical play and exploration, with children encouraged to develop at their own rate and in their own style. Adults stand by to deepen, expand, and enrich children’s play, and the program describes itself as an affordable, high-quality preschool program with a high adult/child ratio.
