According to the program’s mission statement, coaches emphasize fun, teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship while teaching a variety of traditional and non-traditional sports games. Each day focuses on a different character trait, with “Words of the Day” that campers discuss and practice with peers and coaches, and the program states goals of building self-esteem, helping kids feel successful at the end of the day, encouraging active and physically fit lives, and fostering confidence and a love of sports. The mission statement also notes that strategic team building activities are used to help campers develop relationships, build a sense of belonging, and create an environment where kids feel safe, with an emphasis on fun, teamwork, building friendships, and sportsmanship.

Parent testimonials describe Valley Sports Camp as a place where kids “loved this camp,” “had a blast,” and “begged” to extend from part-day to full day. Families report that children were eager to arrive early, that the staff and coaches are “energetic and great with the kids,” and that the week at camp is “a highlight of the summer.” One parent notes that the camp is “BY FAR one of his favorite camps every year,” and another mentions that repeat campers “always want to sign up again” and that the kids “get a great work out without even knowing it.” A testimonial also states that the camp includes character education about sportsmanship, teamwork, and friendship, and that coaches are “well trained and truly enjoy being with children.” Another parent comments that kids at camp “always seem to be good sports/show good sportsmanship,” which the parent attributes to how the coaches run the camps.
