Valley Sports Camp is led by Mark, Jeff, and Kim Mercer and is entering its 18th year of summer camps. The program specializes in youth summer sports camps and after school enrichment programs for boys and girls entering Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade, and kids are grouped by age or grade level in sample groupings such as PreK/K, 1st/2nd, 3rd, 4th/5th, and 6th–8th.
The camp’s mission statement says that coaches emphasize fun, teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship while teaching a variety of traditional and non-traditional sports games. Each day focuses on a different character trait, called “Words of the Day,” which kids discuss and practice with their peers and coach, and strategic team building activities are used to help campers develop relationships, build a sense of belonging, and create an environment where kids feel safe. The mission statement also says the goal is for campers to build self-esteem, feel successful at the end of the day, leave camp with more confidence and a love of sports, enjoy learning and playing new games and sports, be encouraged to lead active, physically fit lives, and spend sessions focused on fun, teamwork, building friendships, and sportsmanship.
The program’s Before and After Camp Care includes a collection of games and activities, as well as an afternoon snack, and after camp care includes additional organized games and activities. Valley Sports Camp is a youth sports camp serving the greater Bay Area communities of Campbell, Cupertino, Los Gatos, Morgan Hill, Saratoga, San Jose, San Lorenzo Valley, and Scotts Valley. The program notes that it has 5-star reviews on Google.
