Valley Sports Camp is led by Mark, Jeff, and Kim Mercer and is run by a dedicated team of teachers who have all played on high level sports teams and have a strong passion for teaching life skills through sports. The camp is entering its 18th year of summer camps, with operations noted from 2009–2024 under Valley Sports Camp, LLC and Valley Sports Enrichment, LLC. The program specializes in youth summer sports camps and after school enrichment programs for boys and girls entering Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade.
The mission of Valley Sports Camp is carried out by coaches who emphasize fun, teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship while teaching a variety of traditional and non-traditional sports games. Each day focuses on a different character trait, using “Words of the Day” that campers discuss and practice with peers and coaches. The camp states that it is great for all levels of athleticism, with goals that include building self-esteem, helping all kids feel successful at the end of the day, encouraging active and physically fit lives, and fostering confidence and a love of sports. Strategic team building activities are used to help campers develop relationships, build a sense of belonging, and create an environment where kids feel safe, with an emphasis on fun, teamwork, building friendships, and sportsmanship.
Valley Sports Camp notes that swimming is available at the San Lorenzo Valley High School location and that Blackberry Farm swimming is available at the Monta Vista High School location, while Scotts Valley, Saratoga, and Los Gatos locations do not offer swimming. The organization serves families across the greater Bay Area, including Campbell, Cupertino, Los Gatos, Morgan Hill, Saratoga, San Jose, San Lorenzo Valley, Scotts Valley, and nearby communities in Santa Cruz County and the South Bay. The program highlights that Summer 2026 registration is open and that registration is also open for spring programs such as after school enrichment, basketball classes, homeschool classes, soccer classes, Valley Sports Center programs, and Learning Day Camps in Cambrian and Union School Districts.
Valley Sports Camp references 5-star reviews on Google and shares multiple parent testimonials describing the camp as a place where kids enjoy a variety of sports and games, look forward to attending, and often choose to extend from part-day to full-day. Parents report that their children have returned for multiple years, that staff and coaches are energetic and engaged with the kids, and that character education around sportsmanship, teamwork, and friendship is part of the experience. Several testimonials mention that campers are eager to arrive early, consider Valley Sports Camp a favorite among many camp options, and look forward to returning each summer.
