ShakesCamp is a two-week summer program where campers spend their time rehearsing an abridged production of William Shakespeare's The Tempest. The program focuses on this fantastical, magic-filled play and works with a dedicated team to bring the story to the stage.
• Schedule: Two-week session, June 15–26, 2026, Mondays–Fridays, 9 AM–2 PM
Silicon Valley Shakespeare, which runs ShakesCamp, states a mission to innovate by bringing new life to classic works through unique, vibrant, and compelling interpretations to keep theatre relevant for modern audiences. Its mission also includes illuminating classic works to open eyes, expand minds, and foster a love of theatre in a fast-paced, high-tech community, while providing high-quality, affordable theatrical experiences and educational programs to reach a diverse audience and build a new generation of theatregoers. The organization also aims to inspire by creating art that reflects the world in which people live and encourages participation in the arts community as artists, audience members, donors, or volunteers. As part of its broader community involvement, the organization provides a summer Shakespeare camp for kids, workshops, assemblies, and after-school programs to over 2,000 students in local schools, and offers an immersive internship program for local high school and college students that includes mentoring such as monologue coaching, resume review, and complimentary professional headshots. It also produces Free Shakespeare in the Park each spring, a Summer Repertory season, a winter classic play in the South Bay each holiday season, and an annual 48-Hour Play Festival of locally developed new works in partnership with a local college or university.
