The program offers neurodiverse after-school programs, Saturday and school break camps, and LEAP Camp Summer Day Camp, with a strong emphasis on social-recreation programming aligned with Regional Center values. Activities are organized in small groups led by trained, compassionate staff and use adaptive activity scheduling focused on developing fulfilling social relationships, independence, and community engagement. The Leap Center’s mission states that it is dedicated to supporting children and adolescents with intellectual and developmental disabilities in building friendships, experiencing their community, and engaging in the social activities they desire, while promoting dignity, autonomy, self-determination, and a sense of belonging. The staff is comprised of experienced, passionate individuals led by a support team of clinicians.
The Leap Center partners with local social recreation–focused organizations to host pop-up experiences at the center. It coordinates monthly community outings that highlight cultural diversity and represent the interests of program participants, including visits to a farmer’s market, community outings, birthday parties, sporting events, concerts, movies, and theatrical performances, and families and friends are encouraged to participate in these outings.
