About

San Leandro Public Library Youth Programs include activities such as LEGO Robotics, PAWS to READ, gospel music performances, craft sessions, cultural arts, and academic support workshops. The program offers a 1-hour LEGO Robotics class that introduces children to building motorized LEGO creations, along with access to an Electronic Learning Center and a DIY Memory Lab. Additional offerings include Lawyers in the Library, a Family Learners Group, and the workshop Countdown to College: Strong Foundation for High School Success.

• Ages: 7–18 years old
• Schedule: A 1-hour class is offered for LEGO Robotics; other program times vary by activity.

Lift Every Voice: A Gospel Afternoon is presented in partnership with the San Leandro History Museum and features gospel music by local church choirs and musicians. In the PAWS to READ program, children in grades 1 to 5 read aloud to certified therapy dogs, and participating children should not be fearful of dogs. Craft Your Blessing: FU 福 Bottle Experience invites participants ages 7–11 to fill a bottle with Lunar New Year elements, with registration required. The Art of Henna: Tradition, Culture, and Design celebrates Eid with artist Rachel Palacios from Devika’s Palacio, who shares the history of henna, teaches participants to create their own designs, and provides each attendee with a temporary henna design. The Family Learners Group includes practice with English phrases and vocabulary to support communication with a child’s teachers and schools.
