About
San Leandro Public Library Youth Programs include activities such as DIY Memory Lab Orientation, Paws to Read, LEGO Robotics, college information sessions, and a hands-on workshop to make reusable beeswax wraps. DIY Memory Lab Orientation introduces attendees to equipment used to digitize analog formats. Paws to Read offers children in grades 1 to 5 time to read aloud to certified therapy dogs, and participating children should not be fearful of dogs. LEGO Robotics provides a 45-minute class that introduces children to motorized LEGO creations. For teens and families planning for higher education, the program includes a How to Pay For College workshop, a College Application 101 information session, and a College Application Workshop that offers step-by-step guidance through the UC, CSU, and Common App processes, where participants bring application materials, essay/PIQ ideas or drafts, and a college list. There is also a hands-on workshop called “What Can Beexwax Do for You? Learn How to Make Reusable Cloth Beeswax Wraps” that focuses on making reusable beeswax wraps.
