• Ages: 2–6 years old
• Schedule: School hours Monday–Friday, 7am–6pm; program starts May 25, 2026
During the summer, children also participate in Practical Life activities in self-help skills, care of the environment, grace, and courtesy; Sensorial activities to develop and refine visual, tactile, auditory, gustatory, and olfactory senses; Language Arts activities in listening, reading, speaking, and writing; and Mathematics activities in linear counting, understanding quantity, symbol relationship, base ten, and the operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. The Summer School Program is offered for ages 2–6 years old and alternates themes each summer between Invertebrate Animals (2026), Human Anatomy (2027), and Solar System (2028), with children exploring life cycles, habitats, and parts of animals using three-dimensional models, puzzles, books, and arts and crafts. The program uses a touchless attendance system, includes daily sanitizing and janitorial, follows an emergency disaster plan, and maintains a teacher-to-child ratio of one teacher visually observing and supervising at most 12 children in attendance, with every classroom consisting of a head teacher and two qualified assistants for a group as large as 36 students.
The Montessori School of San Leandro has provided preschool and day care center services since 1995 and serves children from the age of two through kindergarten in multi-age or mixed-age groupings. All teachers have state-required units in Early Childhood Education, CPR and First Aid Training, Mandated Reporter Training, and criminal background checks, and most hold higher education degrees and Montessori credentials through Montessori accredited training programs or are currently in training. Ms. Sarah is the school director and head teacher/principal. The school is affiliated with the American Montessori Society (AMS) and is licensed by the State of California through Community Care Licensing, and it has provided preschool and day care center services to the San Leandro, Castro Valley, and surrounding communities since 1995.
Parent testimonials describe children progressing in language, social skills, drawing, writing, letter recognition, reading, basic arithmetic, and simple math concepts, and mention children being excited and happy to attend. Families highlight Director Ms. Sarah as organized, energetic, loving, professional, and dedicated, and describe teachers such as Ms. Amela, Ms. Howida, Ms. Reina, Ms. Noemi, Ms. Jimmy, and Ms. Martha as outstanding, caring, and experienced in Montessori methodology. Several parents report positive communication with the school, long-term enrollment of siblings, and appreciation that teachers treat their children with care and attention.
