Bushikan Summer Camp

Bushikan Summer Camps offers weeks that include Karate, Kobudo, Iai-Do, Self-Defense, Computers, Science, Arts & Crafts, Games, and Japanese. Kids participate in martial arts training in Karate, Kobudo, Iai-Do, and Self-Defense, along with activities in Computers, Japanese, Science, Arts & Crafts, and Games. Kids ages 3 and up may attend, and kids have to be potty trained.

• Schedule: Daily 9:00 am–2:00 pm in one-week sessions (June 15–19, 2026; July 13–17, 2026; August 10–14, 2026)
• Price: 1st Child $249; 2nd Child $224; 3rd Child $199; 10% & 20% discount for siblings; fees are not refundable; discount for siblings available for sign-ups before June 1, 2026

Campers bring their own lunch, and the program provides a morning snack. The camp has limited space, needs a minimum of 6 campers registered a week before each camp, and reserves the right to cancel the camp if that minimum is not met.

Franco Sanguinetti Sensei formed the Bushikan Budo Kyokai and has 45 years of active practice in traditional martial arts, and he has been teaching at his Bushikan Dojo in San Diego since 1986. The Bushikan Budo Kyokai was formed to preserve and promote the traditional Okinawan martial arts of Goju Ryu Karate and Matayoshi Kobudo and to implement into society the moral values those arts teach beside the physical aspect. Bushikan Karate Dojo has operated at the private level from 1986 to 2024, and Bushikan Budo Kyokai and Matayoshi Kobudo Kodokan International hold copyrights from 2003 through at least 2026. The organization is a proud member of the Autism Society of San Diego and the Council for Exceptional Children, and its work in the USA includes day care, elementary school, college, and private levels, as well as after school programs at elementary schools in the San Marcos Unified School District since 1994.
