Discovery Isle Preschool

Discovery Isle Preschool offers daycare and preschool education, as well as before and after care and summer camp for children in San Diego County. The program uses the Links to Learning preschool curriculum, which includes literacy, math, art, science, and social skills. From infancy, the program follows the RIE (Resources for Infant Educarers) approach developed by Magda Gerber, and as children grow, teachers add a strong academic program that balances creativity with rigor.

Discovery Isle Preschool offers programs for ages 6 weeks through Pre-K2 and summer camp. The program also includes a Kindergarten option that is described as going beyond traditional expectations. Discovery Isle is proud to serve families at nine campuses.

Discovery Isle began with the vision of founder Cindy Bornemann, who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Business. In 1993, she bought a small preschool in La Costa, California, which became the first Discovery Isle school. Over the years, Discovery Isle expanded across Northern San Diego County, Poway, Temecula, and Murrieta, and has been a recognized name in early childhood education for more than three decades.

Each school is led by experienced educators, many with five to twenty years of tenure. Teachers bring an average of three to five years of experience, and many have spent over fifteen years working with children. The teachers participate in ongoing professional development to stay up to date with current approaches to supporting children’s learning. Discovery Isle Preschool states that it provides a safe and supportive space where every child thrives.
