Competitive groups include Bronze, Silver, Silver Advanced, and Gold training groups, and all groups require a tryout. Requirements for all competitive groups include USA Swimming registration paid separately, practice attendance requirements, participation in USA swim meets at least once a month, intrasquad meet participation, and coach approval. Non-competition groups allow swimmers to gain preparatory knowledge and practice without having to participate in swim meets and may attend a minimum of two practices a week without penalty. Practices are conducted in rain or shine, with athletes pulled from the pool in the event of lightning, and several intrasquad meets are offered throughout the year to introduce athletes to swim meets.
