About
Gigamind Explorer Education offers Early Math, Abacus & Mental Arithmetic, Math Olympiad, Creative-Thinking Workshop, Math Tests Prep, Creative Thinking Summer Camp, and After-school Care. Children work on linear counting, the hundred board, sorting and classifying, basic abacus skills, mental arithmetic, creative-thinking problems, real-life mathematics, test-taking skills, logic skills, math practice, language skills, and homework help. The program also lists Montessori Early Mathematics, Mandarin Language & Culture, and national mathematics competitions preparation.
Programs
- Early Math — Age 2.5-5 · Prepares young children to meet kindergarten entrance expectations in math; students learn linear counting, hundred board, sort & classify, and basic abacus skills.
- Abacus & Mental Arithmetic — Age 4-8 · Students learn how to use abacus to solve arithmetic problems and hold mental images to calculate using their own mental power.
- Math Olympiad — Age 6-15 · Offers students the chance to explore mathematics not conventionally covered at school and strengthen analytical skill and outside-the-box thinking in creative problem solving.
- Creative-Thinking Workshop — Age 4-10 · A workshop relating math and creativity through interesting problems and real-life mathematics.
- Math Tests Prep — Age 6-15 · Helps students build test taking skills, feel confident before taking the test, and enrich analytical and problem-solving skills for math competitions.
- Creative Thinking Summer Camp — K-G5 / K-5th · Students learn different kinds of creative thinking and logic skills, focus on math regularly, and engage in learning through games and fun activities in a structured small-size class.
- After-school Care — Grade K-5th · Enrolls kids in an after-school program to practice math and language skills every day; homework help is also provided.

At a glance
- Ages: 2–15 years old
- General schedule: Abacus and Math Olympiad classes run on Mondays 3:15 pm-4:00 pm at Cipriani Elementary School and Wednesdays 4:00 pm-6:00 pm at Genius Learning. For Abacus & Mental Arithmetic and Math Olympiad, you can choose any hour during open hours at each center; in-person classes can change to distance learning at any time.
About the provider
Gigamind Explorer Education was founded by a group of professionals in the Education, Psychology and STEM fields in 2011. The mission is to promote children's positive attitude and inspire their interest in learning math. Educators are certificated instructors of Abacus Calculation with Two Hands and Mental Arithmetic Skill and Math Olympiad, and instructors have teaching experience in Pre-K-12 in the U.S. and other Asian countries. The program has been promoting abacus and math olympiad programs in the Bay Area and offering classes in different after-schools.
Registration fee for new students is $85, late fee is $25, returned check service charge is $25, and subsequent material fee is $20 per math workbook. Parents can schedule make-up classes with 24-hour notification. Registration fee and package tuition are due before the first lesson. Parents must give one-month notice before withdrawal to get a refund. A registration fee will be charged again for returned students.
