Peninsula Gymnastics was founded in 1995 by Mikhail Margulis, Anna Margulis, and Mark Kachko, and Courtney Johnson joined the team in 1999 and later took ownership of the San Mateo facility. Peninsula Gymnastics reports teaching thousands of children over the last 20 years. The camp is under the management of coaches who are members of the USA Gymnastics Federation, circus performers, and choreographers, and its USA Gymnastics coaches are CPR certified, first-aid trained, and screened through background checks. Peninsula Gymnastics states that health and safety is the number one priority.

Peninsula Gymnastics Camps is an official member of the USA Gymnastics Club. Its stated mission is that the community strives to create healthy lifestyles in youth through the sport of gymnastics. The organization provides gymnastics services for several local entities, including the recreation departments of Burlingame, Foster City, San Mateo, and San Carlos, as well as Peninsula Jewish Community Center, All Our Friends Montessori, St. Ambrose, Sea Breeze School, and Ocean Grove Charter School.
