Youth Classes and Camps at Clay Life Art Studios introduce young people to clay through Wheel Throwing, Hand-Building, and Sculpture. The program takes place in a membership based teaching clay studio where classes and private lessons in these same activities are offered alongside memberships and teambuilding sessions.

Clay Life Art Studios LLC & TheClayLife.com was founded in 2022 in the San Francisco Bay Area in the Mid-Peninsula community of San Mateo. The studio is described as a for-profit community-focused pottery studio and as THE ORIGINAL & FIRST MID-PENINSULA CLAY STUDIO in the City of San Mateo. It offers Open Studio Hours for members and a Youth Clay Camp listed as Summer Camp 2026.

The owner of Clay Life Art Studios & TheClayLife.com is David Paulley, who has been a graphic designer since 1988 and is a self-taught potter, sculptor, instructor, and active community member. The leadership team includes Owner: David Paulley; Studio Manager & Hand-Building Instructor: Cathy Spitters; Sculpture Instructor: Cindy Chan; Studio Guru: Amy Hoang; Studio Guru: Michael De Leon; and Tuesday morning and evening Sculpture Instructor: Sam Blauw. Instructor Michael DeLeon (also written as Michael Deleon) holds a master’s degree in Fine Arts focused in Ceramics from The Academy of Art University, San Francisco, with directed study under Richard Shaw at Berkeley and John Toki.

Clay Life Art Studios is described as a for-profit community-focused pottery studio where the studio practice provides a vehicle for the owner to connect with the community and create educational opportunities for potters in local communities. It is described as the winner of the 2024, 2025, and 2026 Best of San Mateo in the category of Best Art Classes, and the 2026 winner of the Best of San Mateo for Summer Camps. The mission statement includes a pledge by the owner to do his best to create a space that fosters the next generation of ceramic artists and that knits the community together through shared creative experiences.
