About
AC Swim Club offers learn to swim lessons and the Junior Otters program. The Junior Otters program focuses on sharpening swim team skills. The program takes place at AC Swim Club’s swimming facilities, which include an office and pump room.
AC Swim Club was founded in 1959 as the Ann Curtis School of Swimming by Olympian Ann Curtis. It has been Marin County’s premier swim lesson destination for over 65 years, and it is estimated that over 40,000 students have learned to swim at the school. For 60 years, the Cuneo family provided a valuable service to the community through this program.
The program was founded by Ann Curtis and was owned and operated by Ann’s family until 2019. Ann’s daughter Carrie ran the school starting in 1996. In April 2019, the Cuneo family passed their legacy on to former Cal swimmers Nathan Adrian and Will Copeland, who acquired the facility that year. They plan to continue the legacy for another 60 years.
Ann Curtis was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame and, in 1983, into the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame. In 1944, she became the first woman and the first swimmer to win the Sullivan Award, which is given to the most outstanding amateur athlete in the United States. Nathan Adrian won the 100 meter freestyle at the London Olympics, becoming the first American to win the event since 1988, and he added another gold and one silver medal on relays.
