Osher Marin JCC swim lessons are described as fun and safe. Friday Funday Aqua Babies is under the guidance of a JCC trained swim instructor, and experienced aquatics instructors work with participants one-on-one in private lessons. Lesson participants must be at least 3 years old for semi-private and private lessons, unused lessons expire one year from the purchase date, and a 48-hour notification is required to reschedule with no refunds. Class ratios include 8:1 for Splash! Water Play and Advanced Splash! Water Exploration, 4:1 for First Fins Water Introduction and Level 1 Primary Skills, 5:1 for Level 2 Stroke Readiness, and 6:1 for Level 3 Stroke Development, Level 4 Stroke Improvement, Level 5 Orcas!, Pre-Swim Team, and Adult Learn to Swim.
Swimsuits are required when using the pools, spa, steam room, and sauna. Exercise equipment such as noodles, barbells, weights, inner tubes, and belts is available for adult use only, and children may use kickboards at the discretion of the lifeguards. Coast Guard Approved life vests are encouraged, no other flotation devices are allowed, and there is no glass or food on pool decks, only on lawn areas. All young children who are not toilet trained must wear swim diapers and plastic swim pants while using the pools, and these items may be purchased at the H&F desk. Lifeguards have complete and final authority on pool usage and rule enforcement, and families are asked to download the Swim Lessons Policy and Waiver PDF to complete, sign, and return to the Aquatics Department before lessons begin.
Pool and spa rules include that kids ages 13 and older may use the pools without a parent or guardian. Kids ages 10–12 may use the pool on their own if they pass a swim test and their parent remains in the facility, and kids ages 8–9 may use the pool if they pass the swim test and their parent remains in view. Kids ages 5–7 must have a parent in the pool with them regardless of swimming ability, kids ages 4–13 must be supervised in the spa by a parent at all times, kids ages 4 and under must remain within arm’s length of their parent while in the pool, and kids ages 3 and under may not use the spa.
