Marin Dance Theatre’s mission is to nurture and sustain the art and technique of classical ballet and contemporary dance for students of all ages through training and education, unique choreography, professionally staged performances, and community outreach programs. The staff works to provide a nurturing and physically healthy environment that cultivates discipline, the ability to work cooperatively, a sense of community and personal achievement, and a lifelong appreciation of dance, music, theater, and other related art forms, with a philosophy of open, honest communication and support. MDT employs a team who are experienced and at the top in their field.

The school serves students from all over the Bay Area with training in classical ballet and contemporary dance, performance opportunities, and community outreach. Marin Dance Theatre features an 11,000 square foot space, a faculty and staff with a united vision of providing a very special environment for dancers, and a curriculum that develops self-confidence and poise, nurtures dancers toward their own personal excellence in dance, and creates a lifelong appreciation of the experience shared in the MDT community.

Parents describe Marin Dance Theatre as providing excellent training, life examples, and friendships, and refer to it as a community that feels like home. Testimonials note that students have stayed for many years, that staff are wonderful, that older dancers look out for younger ones, and that teachers bring professional experience as artists and teachers while supporting each student as a dancer and as an individual. Families also describe MDT as a home away from home and as a supportive, enriching, and safe community of dancers and teachers to grow up with.
