Snow Valley Basketball Schools was founded by Herb Livsey. The summer of 2020 marked the 59th consecutive year in the camp operations business. Instruction at Snow Valley is focused not only on improving the skill sets of campers, but also coaches, with coaches providing feedback in real time as drills are introduced and explained, and Livsey hand-picking coaches to lead instructional clinics each day. Snow Valley Basketball Schools has been recognized by Sports Illustrated as one of the top fundamental basketball camps in the country. US Sports Camps (USSC), headquartered in San Rafael, California, is the licensed operator of Nike Sports Camps and operates Snow Valley Basketball Schools with a mission to shape a lifelong enjoyment of athletics through high quality sports education and skill enhancement. US Sports Camps has offered summer camps since 1975.

Snow Valley Basketball Schools is described as the place to be for players aspiring to make the high school team, play college ball, or brush up on skills. One long-time coach, Pete Gaskill, a sixteen-year camp veteran, said his experience at Snow Valley was significant in gaining a better understanding of the game and how to communicate and teach it, and that everything he does seems to come back to Snow Valley. Another long-time coach, Wyane Carlson, said he took teaching lessons from the basketball court into his history class, watching how coaches taught, worked with groups of kids, checked if learning was taking place, and then re-taught when it was not.
