The Martial Arts Academy of Marin teaches Shōrinji Ryū Karate, a traditional style of Okinawan karate that traces its roots to indigenous Okinawan fighting arts and Chinese martial influences. Shōrinji Ryū blends powerful strikes, joint locks, throws, and practical self-defense techniques, and emphasizes fluid movement, dynamic footwork, and internal power while preserving philosophical and spiritual aspects of karate. Unlike sport-focused styles, Shōrinji Ryū is described as remaining true to its combat-effective origins.

The kids program focuses on confidence, discipline, physical fitness, focus, coordination, respect, perseverance, self-control, and teamwork. The Teen/Adult program is described as building strength, confidence, and real-world self-defense skills. Kids karate camp 2026 is described as providing distilled, focused instruction with structured training, exciting drills, and team-building activities.

The Academy is described as a welcoming place to begin. The mission statement notes a strong emphasis on discipline, adaptability, and personal growth, and describes Shōrinji Ryū Karate as a complete martial art that cultivates both body and mind. Kata is described as the heart of karate and the soul of martial arts, preserving knowledge, strategies, and fighting principles of past masters, and as developing muscle memory, spatial awareness, and internal energy so techniques can become instinctive in real combat. Body Dynamics, Structure, Frames, and specific stances such as Horse Stance, Front Stance, and Back Stance are described as basics of Shōrinji Ryū Karate.

All 2 Month Summer Starter Packages include a TMAA T-shirt, belt, water bottle, and drawstring bag, and the Pro Starter Pack upgrade adds a traditional Karate gi uniform and drawstring bag for an additional $40. The 2 Month Summer Starter Package allows training between June 15th and August 15th and includes options such as a Kids starter program at $319, a Premier Program for kids at $419, a 2-classes-per-week option for teens at $349, and a 3-classes-per-week option for teens at $449. Spring bonus information notes a free 30-minute private session, and once the free trial has been completed, kids receive a complimentary 30-minute private session with a Sensei and Teen/Adults receive a 60-minute private session. Sensei Will is listed as the contact person for questions and calls.
