About

Your Language and Cultural Center – Spanish Tutoring & Classes offers one-on-one tutoring in any level of Spanish, homework help, summer refreshers, and an after school program. The program includes Spanish Immersion classes, Spanish classes tailored to specific fields, and practice of practical grammar through conversational methods. Students take part in diverse activities and games, including songs and games for children, as well as crafts and cultural projects.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Classes are offered every day or 3 times per week in the morning and afternoon.

The program is led by native Spanish speakers who are professionals with more than 10 years of experience teaching Spanish, with experience in Preschools, Elementary, Middle, and High Schools in the Bay Area and abroad. Classes are typically in small groups of approximately 8 students, with a teacher to student ratio of about 1:8, and are described as a fun way of instruction where students learn vocabulary and grammar using songs and games for children. An experienced teacher teaches both the language and Latinoamerican culture, and adult classes are specialized by field, usually held at the participant’s office or place of work where teachers become familiar with the business. The organization notes that soon it will offer online classes.

The Language and Cultural Center states that it was founded on the belief that every student has the ability to learn more languages and learn the culture at the same time, with the goal “to create learning success stories, one student at a time.” The leadership team includes Vitan Alfaro (President), Edgar Antonio Navarro (Treasurer), Jasmin Amezquita Roque (Treasurer), and Claire Mazariegos (Board Member), with past board members Benjamin Dagher, Brenda Camarena, Juan Carlos Bonilla, and Rebekka Dagher. The center has worked in Marin with school districts and partners such as San Rafael Community Center, Strawberry Recreational District, and San Anselmo Recreational Center.

Parent testimonials describe an 11-year-old who attended Spanish classes before school for two years and was excited to go each morning, and refer to Rosario creating a playful and supportive environment where kids have fun while being introduced to a new language. Another parent reports that Rosario has taught their son in Spanish immersion for two years in a fun-filled environment tailored to children of various ages and skill levels, developing caring relationships with the kids and engaging them through songs, games, crafts, and cultural projects, and notes seeing progress through class performances and use of Spanish outside the classroom.
