The All American Black Belt Academy states that it believes in and teaches martial arts with traditional values of respect, self-discipline, humility, and dedication to excellence, and notes that it uses holistic methods to teach skills with an emphasis on health and fitness wellness. The dojo is registered with Japan Karatedo Hayashi-ha Shitoryukai, USA NKF, and WKF, and is currently the only Hayashi ha Shitoryu California dojo registered with the Japan Headquarters.

Shihan began his karate training in 1966, earned a brown belt in 1971, and earned his black belt in Hayashi ha Shitoryu Kai in 1975. He moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1979 and opened his karate school in Dublin in 1980. He became a World Karate Federation judge at the World Championship in Masstricht, Netherlands in 1984 and continued as an official in fifteen other international events. When the USA National Karate Federation was established in 1994, he was elected the first Western Regional Vice President and served as a member of the Referee Council. He established the United Karate Federation of California in 1990 as a California non-profit corporation and is a National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Personal Trainer.

The Academy also offers programs through the San Ramon and Pleasant Hill Community Center, and Shihan developed karate programs with the local YMCA and the San Ramon City Recreation Department. The United Karate Federation of California was created to benefit Dublin elementary school children with low cost karate and martial arts classes and to give financial aid to karate athletes in Northern California. Families can drop in for a free, introductory class.
