About
Lil’ Kickers and Skills Institute at East Bay Sports – San Ramon offers soccer classes that use creative games and small-sided play. Classes are led by high-energy coaches who follow an age-appropriate curriculum rooted in child development theories.
• Ages: 18 months–12 years old
• Schedule: Weekly classes; each class meets for 50 minutes of continuous activity
When Lil’ Kickers started in 1999, the goal was to build a kids’ program that was fundamentally sound and outrageously fun. The Lil’ Kickers curriculum includes activities that range from learning colors and counting to practicing soccer skills, and classes are structured to support social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development. The Skills Institute program is specially designed for kids ages 5–12 years old who love soccer and want to improve their technical, tactical, physical, and social skills through a tailored, weekly curriculum with a small player-to-coach ratio and small-sided games. The overall mission of Lil’ Kickers is to help children grow and thrive while having fun, and the program focuses on developing players who are good sports and good teammates on and off the field.
Parents describe the classes as wildly fun and fast-paced, with coaches who bring a lot of energy to each session. One parent shared that her son has enjoyed this program more than any other he has been in. Another parent noted that her children love the imaginative games that teach soccer skills and that the program has been a good fit for younger kids learning to listen to other adults. A third parent reported that all three of her children have participated because they enjoyed it, and she saw them growing in skill and confidence.
